A Spoonful of Sugar

Guess what?

No, seriously. Guess!

Never mind…you’ll never get it. ๐Ÿ™„

I’m starting my own business!!

I have a website and everything (cocoa-tree.com). I’m on twitter and Instagram too.

Why am I telling you this? Because you guys have always been supportive and because I’ve been whining for the last ten years and I figure I’m due for a positive post!

I finally decided that it’s time for me to take a leap, so I took a deep breath and…I leapt. It’s been an interesting journey so far, and I still have quite a long way to go, but the important thing is that I FINALLY took the risk. Besides, it’s about time I put all those culinary classes to use, right?

Truth is, I’m scared to death because part of what prompted this is Hubby. He suggested that I make chocolates that he and his boss can distribute as client gifts. It was supposed to be 30 clients, but now it’s 60. His professional reputation is now on the line, along with my own. I *think* I have a grasp on the magnitude of the project, but I’m not sure.

When the subject was first broached, CHEF was still in my life and he committed to helping me. Now that I’ve walked away from that particular land mine, I’m a bit …how do you say….SCREWED? I have to crank out 2,200 bonbons on my own.

I figure I’m fucked.

And not in the good way.

But then I rallied and took stock of the situation. I have friends in Chicago and California who are well-versed in chocolate. They are talented and willing to help me, so perhaps all is not lost! I’m running out of excuses to back out, so it’s time to nut up and put on my Big Girl panties.

(Yeah, yeah…mixed missive, I know. But you see where I’m going with it. Plus I don’t wear panties, so it’s kinda abstract anyway).

Anyhoo…

Today I drove to Green Bay to scope out some used equipment. There’s a dude who is giving up the ‘chocolate’ side of his business, so he’s getting rid of his molds, spray guns, warmers and cocoa butter colors. I made out like a bandit ๐Ÿ˜. If I keep having such good luck, this might actually come together without too much hair pulling and tears, lol.

Wish me luck, y’all. Lord knows I could use something positive in my life right now and I’ll be dammed if I’m going to wait for someone else to give it to me.

Unless it’s a massage. Or a cocktail. Or maybe an orgasm. Or steak. Someone can give me a steak…
