Resolution Solution

Sigh. It’s just around the corner, isn’t it? New Year’s Eve- the end of one year and the beginning of a clean slate with which to fuck up your life just like you did the year before, lol.

I stopped making resolutions years ago. Mainly because I never stuck to them. I went into it with all good intentions, but early on I’d get frustrated or disenchanted or simply lazy, and the next thing you know, it’s March and I’m still a fat sack of shit.

So I finally decided that I don’t need a predetermined date to begin a life change. I just need to decide to do whatever it is I want to do. Doesn’t matter if it’s the onset of a new year, the first day of the month, or a random Sunday to kick off the week: Any day can be a new beginning.

So instead of referring to my resolutions as ‘resolutions’, I’m going to call them “Shit I Hope to Accomplish’. And here they are:

I want to lose 50lbs. Now that my doc has upped the quantity of pain meds I get every month, I don’t need to horde them anymore. This means I’m free to pop a pill with my morning Joe, and hop on the treadmill without fear of debilitating pain afterward.

I want to finally make a particular dessert that I’ve been avoiding for years. Cacahuete- it’s a layered peanut torte that takes so many components, it’s probably patented by Apple. I’ll post a pic below- it doesn’t look that foreboding, but trust me: it would be a major feather in my cap if I could do it.

I want to be happy. This one is a little tougher because I need to isolate what’s making me UNhappy, and then fix it. But not everything that bugs me can be easily dealt with or remedied. For example, I can’t fix my husband. What I CAN do is resolve to not allow his issues to cloud my fish tank. I can’t make THAT GUY more expressive and loving. But I can decide to a) not tolerate it anymore, or b) minimize the importance it (and he) play in my life.

ADDENDUM: I forgot about this post (it was stored in my draft folder), but as I review it, I realize that EVERYTHING IS STILL VALID AS FUCK.

Anyhoo, I hope y’all had a great New Years Eve and that 2019 has gotten off to a great start! I’ll write more in a bit, but in the meantime, here’s a pic of that dessert:

  1. Mmm! I could really go for that dessert.
I actually had a pretty good Christmas & New Year with family and friends. I even went out on New Year’s Eve but I should not have had the sambucca shots!

  2. wow, that looks yummy.

Recently I watched a movie by Joe Cross called “Fat Sick and Nearly Dead”. It was an eye opener for me.
